Are mosquitos a problem?
During the day we seldom even see a mosquito on the swamp tour. At twilight and during the night maybe a different story. Regardless I always have some repellant on hand so you do not have to worry.
What about snakes?
Here again snakes are seldom seen on swamp tours. Since the alligator population at Lake Martin has been steadily increasing the snakes have been steadily disappearing.
How should I dress?
Casual and appropriate for the season. No need for rubber boots although you may get a little mud on your shoes at times.
What is CAJUN COUNTRY SWAMP TOURS mission statement?
To provide our guests with an unforgettable, educational and entertaining experience into a Louisiana swamp with a generous serving of Cajun Hospitality while promoting a greater respect for wildlife and the environment.
Is it OK to go into the bird rookery?
Ethically and legally the answer is no. Remoteness and seclusion are two of the several criteria that wading birds use to select rookery sites. Consequently, areas with the higher boat traffic have been abandoned. State regulations forbid boat traffic into the rookery February 15th to the end of July.
